Mahalaya: Durga Puja 2009

Dear friends and well-wishers,

Mahalaya is only few days away and we are eagerly waiting for the biggest event of the year. We will have three days of event this time and the week after we will have Lakshmi Puja on Oct 3rd, 2009.

Then we will close the festival week by hosting Bollywood playback singer “DEBOJIT SAHA” on Oct 4th, 2009. Please book your tickets at the earliest to avoid last minute disappointment.

Treasure hunt at Durga Puja 2009

Dear Friends,

As Durga Puja draws closer, we want to inform you about one of the planned kids’ events (back by popular demand!)- Treasure Hunt.

In this event kids (ages 7 and above) will be grouped into 3 (or 4 depending upon number of participants) groups and will be required to rack their brains to solve puzzles, mental challenges, demonstrate team spirit, ability to look for clues and follow directions. Not only will their efforts and creativity lead the winning team to the “Treasure Chest” but our game is structured such that we hope that the kids will become more knowledgeable about Indian culture and history, by way of this fun event.

We plan to start at 12.00 Noon, on 26th September, 2009 at Berkmar High School.

If you are interested for your kids to participate, please respond to Sonia Nandi with name and age of child by September 19th, 2009, and if you know of others who may not be in Pujari’s mailing list, please spread the word around.

Change of Durga Puja 2009 Events

Dear Pujari members, friends and well-wishers,

I know you all have been waiting and looking forward to the 3 days of Durga Puja ahead. Unfortunately, with great regret, I have to announce that due to some unknown reason Rupankar’s visa has been rejected by the US embassy. In fact, the visas of many other Kolkata performers have been rejected too. This is quite unforeseen, and unfortunate given how anxiously we were waiting to see Rupankar’s performance. Needless to say, we were highly disappointed as well. However, rest assured, we have scrambled and we have been able to put together some alternate shows that will be equally attractive. Instead of 3 external artists we will now have FOUR.

• FREE event: Friday, 25th Sept. 2009 – Alak Roychowdhury
• FREE event: Saturday, 26th Sept. 2009 – Santoneel
• FREE event: Sunday, 27th Sept. 2009 – Alamgir

AND

• Sunday, 4th October, 2009, we will host the inimitable “DEBOJIT SAHA“, Sa Re Ga Ma Pa challenge 2005 winner.

Debojit’s show will be open to all of Atlanta with all his popular Bollywood songs. However, registrants at Durga Puja will receive a special discount. So mark October 4th, 2009 on your calendars right now. Going by Debojit’s recent North American shows, this is surely going to be a BIG HIT.

Become a Champion and Make a Statement

We at Vibha would like to invite your community/organization to participate in The DreamMile 5k Run/Walk on Sept 19th, 2009 at GA Tech. Vibha’s mission is to Educate, Empower and Enable you to make a difference in the life of an underprivileged child and last year 1000 runners and walkers made a huge difference!!!

The Dream Mile is a community event and your chance to become a champion and make statement that you care. Please join us and walk a few miles to fulfill a million dreams and display your banner proudly for children who do not have plenty and give them hope and inspiration. Pujari Durga Puja 2009

Pujari will celebrate Durga Puja on Sept 26th and 27th at Berkmar High School this year. With all other events, we will also organize a workshop on ‘Indian Pottery Culture’ for the youth and request your early registration, it is a free event but limited number of participants can be accommodated.

Thank you for joining us at Pujari Picnic 2009

Dear friends,

It was our pleasure to have your presence on Pujari Picnic 2009 at Buford Dam Park. Your presence made all our efforts a big success.

Hope you all have enjoyed the good food and different sports activities. It started with games for the kids who were very competitive in their events and won prizes. Many thanks to those moms who made it successful. Then there was a mini T20 cricket match with full professionalism from the players, we also found serious fishermen among us, and then of course the young swimmers who spent long time playing in the cool water.

It is worth mentioning that the success of any activity depends on the participants as well as the personnel who have devoted their valuable time to make such great food and game arrangements. Many thanks to those moms who prepared excellent breakfast and delicious lunch.

Last but not the least, I should make note of the hard work of Pujari personnel who had contributed all their time and effort to make the event a sheer success.
We always expect your valuable feedback to make all our future events more enjoyable. Please checkout the pictures from the event.
